Special Interest Groups
Whether your passion is for literature, cooking or floral art, travelling with people who share your interests is an incredibly rewarding way to explore the world. We can design unique and inspiring tours for family and friendship groups, clubs, societies and even corporations looking for an unusual team building experience.
How it works
ECT has a flexible approach to travel and we cater for Special Interest Groups in several ways:
- By adapting one of our existing tours to suit your preferred travel dates and accommodation requirements
- By enhancing a predesigned tour with some additional extras such as a personalised masterclass, a curator-led visit to a private collection or a special meal in a unique and unusual location
- By working with your ideas to devise a totally unique itinerary
Why choose ECT?
We have been creating inspiring tour programmes for over 20 years and can use this experience to design bespoke itineraries tailored to the specific interests and requirements of your family or friendship group, local club, society or corporation.
ECT has the expertise to take care of all the logistics, allowing you to relax and focus on the experience, while our extensive network of specialist contacts means that we can enhance programmes with exclusive features such as curator-led tours of private collections, workshops with renowned florists, chefs, artists and craftspeople, privileged access to places of interest and special meals in unusual locations such as art galleries and places of historic interest.
The themes set out below give a flavour of what’s possible, but please get in touch with us to discuss your individual requirements. We look forward to working with you.
Let us immerse you in the world of a favourite author, character or film. Recent tours include:
Strictly Jane Austen
Our Bath base means that we are uniquely placed to create evocative tours of Jane Austen’s world, complete with special Regency experiences and expert talks.
Explore the places where Shakespeare lived, worked and played and gain a new insight into the world’s most famous playwright.
Sit in the coffee shops where JK Rowling first wrote the stories, visit the key locations, stand at the characters’ gravestones and take a tour of the Warner Bros studio where it all came to life.
Discover the places that inspired Winston Graham and the dramatic Cornish locations featured in the television series.
Enrich your understanding of historic figures and events with a bespoke tour. We have well-established connections in centres of historic interest such as Budapest, Dubrovnik and the Battlefields of northern France, but we can also work in partnership with you to design a tour that combines your specialist contacts with our logistical expertise. For example, we recently created a multi-destination tour for the British Australia Society Education Trust to commemorate Admiral Arthur Phillip, founder of New South Wales.
We have been organising floral, horticultural and garden-themed tours for over 20 years and have the experience and contacts to devise a truly compelling programme, whether you are looking for access to key floral events such as Floralia Brussels, Keukenhof and the Singapore Garden Festival, guided tours of some of the most important gardens in the UK and Europe, tips from leading floral artists or unusual materials for your own creations.
Textiles are one of our specialist areas and we have established close associations with many institutions and experts in the UK and abroad. For example, we can arrange private tours of the Royal School of Needlework’s remarkable embroidery collection at Hampton Court Palace, a curator-led talk at Bath’s famous Fashion Museum and visits to internationally-renowned textile showcases such as the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Patchwork & Quilting Days in Rijswijk and Alsace’s annual European Patchwork Meeting.
We can design a gastronomic tour for your group whether you choose to make risotto by the lakeside in the Swiss region of Ticino, or brush up your technical skills under the tutelage of a master chef from Le Cordon Bleu Institute in Paris.
Christmas markets are a seasonal treat and we are delighted to be able offer coach tours to a variety of Christmas markets in Germany and Belgium. Our flexible, bespoke approach means that we can accommodate groups wanting to soak up the atmosphere of a single market and those looking to visit several of these festive shopping extravaganzas.
A few days out of the office learning a new skill is a great way to boost office morale. We can devise a hands-on itinerary filled with demonstrations and workshops themed around a particular area of interest.
We can work with your organisation to create an inspiring travel programme custom-made for your client base.
