The culinary journey began in London with that most British of food traditions, afternoon tea served in the ‘Library’ at a 5* Mayfair hotel where the group were staying throughout their time in London. This was followed by a specially arranged private supper at one of London’s oldest pubs. 

The following day, the group enjoyed a tailor-made Masterclass at a famous London cookery school in which they each created two British heritage dishes. Those travelling on this tour had considerable culinary skills and we made sure the class was suitable for their standard. After a day of cooking, we arranged for a fine-dining meal at a leading central-London eatery, accompanied by a wine tasting experience featuring fine English wines.

To balance downtime, we integrated a day of free time for the group to explore London. We also offered the option of two walking tours tailored to particular passions. The group re-gathered in the evening for a three-course dinner at a fashionable eatery in Notting Hill.

As an ‘amuse-bouche’ on day four, en-route west for Somerset and the Cotswolds, we arranged a visit to Windsor Castle.

The group’s first night in Bath was spent dining on a classic Fish & Chips supper at an award-winning fish restaurant, and the following evening, we arranged a special six-course tasting menu filled with the flavours of Bath and the West country at a Michelin-starred restaurant focusing on local, seasonal produce. We also organised a country walk to visit a renowned local cheesemaker.

Accommodation for our Bath programme was at the luxurious 5* The Gainsborough Bath Spa and we included free time for guests to indulge in some pampering relaxation at the hotel’s Spa Village, as well as to explore this UNESCO World Heritage City.

The group had expressed interest in learning more about Farm to Table Principles in the region so, with this in mind, we organised visits to The Newt, a hotel and working country estate in Somerset as well as two artesian cider makers.  

Other highlights of the Somerset section of the tour were pub lunches with hearty meals after local walks, a visit to Glastonbury Tor and time in the Cathedral City of Wells where we arranged a special dinner in the atmospheric Long Gallery of the Cathedral's Bishops Palace.

The group spent the last two nights of the programme at a castle where they enjoyed a locally-crafted gin tasting, a gourmet meal and the opportunity to dress in period costume.  

For the final night, we created a unique dining experience on board the SS Great Britain. The evening began with a tour of the decks with ‘Mr Brunel’, followed by a glass of champagne and canapes. Dinner was served in the First-Class Dining Saloon. 

Incredible!  Honestly, it was one of the best-paced and most immersive journeys I have been on to date!
There was just enough time to relax and rest between activities.
